Lord, we come here tonight because we can.  Because You have created this amazing world, because You have given us days and nights to live by, You have given us minds to make decisions and understand with, and hearts to feel with, and because we are lucky enough to have the freedom to use these gifts.

A new month begins and we want to start a fresh.  Open our minds, our hearts and our lives to the voice inside us that tells us we are loved, that we are important and that we can make a difference.  Speak to us Lord so that we will go away excited and filled with Your message.

Stop.  Take three deep breaths.  Take the time to focus, relax and listen.  Take the time to tune out yesterday’s troubles and tomorrow’s jobs.  Take some time to let yourself know yourself, and take some time to let yourself know your God.

Opening Prayer

Lord, we come here tonight from tiring weeks, from hectic days and lonely times, from happy experiences and pleasing results, from all different types of lives.  We come seeking forgiveness, seeking friendship, comfort, knowledge, solitude, or perhaps we come without reason.  We are here to sing, to listen to talk, to love and to be loved.  For whatever reason we find ourselves here Lord, may we be open to You and to others around us, so that we may experience your love and will.

Lord, we come here to meet You, to talk to You, to love You and to have fun with You.  Let us put aside all the things that have hurt us and bothered us this week so that we can listen and be touched by Your word.
